Construction of Louisville’s new pickleball courts is on hold while engineers determine whether the court slab needs added concrete or steel reinforcement to secure perimeter glass, according to the Recreation Advisory Board’s June 22 minutes.
The minutes say core sampling found the potential structural issue. Staff still expected the courts to be completed later this summer, but the public records do not provide a cost for the structural work or a precise revised completion or opening date.
Staff also said a task force would develop programming after the courts open, including how the city balances open play with designated play. That effort is separate from the PROS Long Range Plan: a July 27 board packet, which was prospective as of July 23, says plan revisions were awaiting City Council review in August. The records reviewed do not indicate effects on other recreation projects or existing programming.
