Longmont council to consider $37 million for 1st and Main improvements
The proposed 2026 appropriation would cover costs tied to the transit station area project, with a second reading and public hearing scheduled for Oct. 20.

Longmont City Council is scheduled Oct. 6 to consider a proposed $37,008,731 supplemental appropriation for 2026, chiefly for costs tied to the 1st and Main Transit Station Area Improvements. The City Council packet schedules the ordinance for a first reading on Oct. 6 and a second reading and public hearing on Oct. 20.
The proposed appropriation includes $672,625 from the General Fund, $3.2 million from the Electric and Broadband Utility Enterprise Fund, and $33,136,106 from the Public Improvement Fund. The General Fund amount would be transferred to the Public Improvement Fund. That fund’s proposed sources also include $31,489,873 in certificate-of-participation proceeds and $973,608 from its fund balance. The utility fund amount would come from its fund balance.
The proposal would also shift some planned capital spending into 2026. The packet says $1,181,066 would be removed from the proposed 2027 set-aside for the Electric and Broadband Utility’s Distributed Energy Resources Innovation and Solutions project, reducing it from $2,097,066 to $916,000, because the funds are needed for project costs in 2026. The proposed 2027 budget would shift $1,646,233 in Public Improvement Fund expenses for those costs into 2026 and reduce related one-time transfer revenue by $672,625.
At the Oct. 6 budget hearing, Council is also scheduled to give final direction on the proposed 2027 budget and 2027–2031 Capital Improvement Program. The related capital-plan amendment is scheduled to return to Council on Oct. 20.
