Superior now expects Rock Creek Parkway construction to reach substantial completion Nov. 6, 36 days later than the project’s original Oct. 1 target.
At the Oct. 12 Town Council meeting, staff said the contractor’s submitted schedule showed work continuing through Oct. 31, with additional tasks through Nov. 4. Staff forecast substantial completion Nov. 6 and said the contractor thought it might finish sooner. Crews could remain for punch-list work into much of November, but staff did not expect that work to require road or lane closures, the meeting video shows.
The town’s weekly bulletin said northbound traffic was scheduled to remain closed through Oct. 13 for work on a raised crosswalk and concrete island, with two-way traffic expected to resume Tuesday evening. The town’s construction notice described a detour via South Indiana Street during the closure. The town’s project update lists southbound Regional Transportation District Route 228A stops at Rock Creek Village/Bell Flatirons and Honey Creek Drive as closed during construction. Staff said paving and striping were scheduled to begin the week of Oct. 19.
Staff said the contract allows the town to assess about $1,400 per day in liquidated damages for delays and that the town could enforce them. Staff did not say damages had been assessed; change-order issues were still being worked through.
