Longmont council approves $2.9 million affordable-housing awards
A unanimous vote funds rental housing, Habitat homes and homeowner rehabilitation, with an estimated $2.8 million in Boulder County tax support.

Longmont City Council voted 7-0 July 14 to approve a $2.9 million package of competitive affordable-housing awards, with an estimated additional $2.8 million in support from the Boulder County Affordable Housing Tax, the council packet shows. Staff said it was the first year every request was fully funded.
The awards are intended to support:
- A previously approved $742,000 award for Atwood Commons, which will support 72 rental units.
- A $2.8 million award to Habitat for Humanity of St. Vrain Valley for 35 for-sale homes at the Faith Point Church property and four Sunset duplex units.
- A $1.2 million low-interest loan to The In Between for very-low-income rental housing with on-site office space.
- A $50,000, two-year grant to Paintathon for home rehabilitation for income-qualified older adult and disabled homeowners.
The packet estimates the Habitat award at about $142,000 per Faith Point home and $157,500 per Sunset duplex unit. It does not provide a combined household count for all funded projects, so those figures should not be added to an earlier estimate that the broader Habitat proposal could serve 161 Longmont households.
The council action approves funding awards; it does not document construction, occupancy or completion dates for the projects.
