Superior’s Open Space Advisory Committee endorsed Point Strategies’ Coyote Ridge trail recommendations as a package Nov. 4, and staff expected work on the first smaller projects to gear up the following week, the committee’s meeting discussion shows.

Staff said the first work would involve the top three or four smaller priority projects and require heavy equipment for earthwork. The Town planned to alert trail users through an email bulletin, social media and signs at work sites. The committee’s endorsement did not set a binding order for the work or commit funding for every recommendation.

Town staff and the geographic information system team were preparing a trailhead display map and testing colors to make it easier for people with color blindness to read. Staff said they would update the map after any trail reroutes are completed.

Committee members raised concerns about trail damage from four-wheel-drive vehicles used during grazing. Staff planned to discuss ways to reduce impacts with the contractor, including avoiding existing trails and considering vehicle routes and water-tank locations. Staff also planned to identify sensitive habitat areas in advance so the contractor could fence them off or avoid them.

Staff also described a proposed county-grant-funded grazing agreement for 2027–2029, targeted for Town Council consideration Dec. 14. It would allow grazing areas to shift if a parcel were not ready or suitable, or work to be suspended where possible.
